Getting Help with Your Porn Problem

The Barna Group, a Christian research and resource company, released a new study in 2016 called The Porn Phenomenon. It revealed a lot of disturbing information about the state of porn usage among Christian men and women, such as:

  • 40% of practicing Christians say they’d rather not use porn, while 60% said some porn or all porn usage is ok.
  • 16% of practicing Christians have unsuccessfully tried to stop using porn, while 19% were currently trying to stop using it.

Getting Help with Your Porn Problem

One of the biggest problems anyone who is addicted to pornography has is HOW to stop using it. It’s a sin issue, but it’s also a secretive addiction, and like all addictions, it only worsens the longer you use it.

There are a number of resources available for fighting your personal war on porn—internet filters, accountability, Celebrate Recovery–but there is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Just like most things in life, what works for your friend may or may not work for you. Or, as is most often the case when dealing with addictions, after a while you start finding loopholes or workarounds for things that worked well in the beginning.

Therefore, we are constantly searching for solid, biblical teaching and methodology that will help men and women truly break free from the chains of pornography.

Enter PornBattle.

PornBattle is an online porn addiction seminar led by Dr. Wyatt Fisher and his wife Alia. Dr. Fisher is a clinical psychologist and is a professor at Liberty University. We’ve worked with Dr. Fisher in the past on our sister site, SingleRoots. He has also created Christian Crush, an online dating site for Christian singles and he has written articles for SingleRoots.

PornBattle is a 2-session video seminar in which the Fishers talk about pornography addiction from a clinical, statistical perspective and then they shift into how to break free from it. There’s no quick cure and it requires hard work on the part of the viewer, but this seminar is a helpful tool to help you engage in the fight.

A big misconception about porn usage is that it’s a man’s problem but nothing could be farther from the truth in this digital age. While adult men do use porn at almost four times the rates of women, it is still a problem for women. However, PornBattle is targeted at a male audience, as well as their wives who’ve been affected by their addictions. If you’re a woman who is currently battling porn, the information is still applicable, but just know that in this particular conversation, the focus is centered around men specifically.

What Can I Expect in the PornBattle Seminar?

The seminar consists of 2 video sessions. The first one is around 35 minutes long and the second one is 45 minutes. Each video comes with a PDF of notes, so you can print them out and add your own notes to it or simply follow along on your computer. There’s no homework or workbook pages to complete, but as the Porn Battle Plan unfolds, you’re left with things to consider and work on in your personal life.

It’s important to note that the PornBattle seminar in and of itself probably won’t “fix” you. There’s still much work to be done on your part and you’ll still need to find accountability or seek Biblical counseling to continue your battle. However, the seminar IS a good place to begin and it helps you start thinking rightly about pornography and your relationship with the Lord.

What Men Can Expect

The 2-part video seminar will help you to understand that you are not alone. You will also learn how pornography affects your brain, your marriage, and your ability to break free. You will consider past sexual sin and how it might have led you to the place where you are today. Plus, you will be armed with a spiritual Battle Plan for breaking free.

The seminar includes notes from the sessions so you can go over the material again in the days and weeks following without having to re-watch the videos. However, should you want to re-watch them, they’re available as well.

What Women Can Expect

The 2-part video PornBattle seminar will help you to understand that you are not alone. But didn’t we just say that to the men? Yes, but it applies to you, too. You’re not the first wife to have a husband who is addicted to porn, and this seminar helps you to see that. It also arms you with tools to help him in his fight, as well as encouragement on how to respond to him, especially when you are hurt by his porn use too.

What Couples Can Expect

If you know you have a problem with pornography but you feel like you’ll never be able to break free from it, the PornBattle seminar could be a helpful tool for you and your spouse to work through together. For some of you, the idea of addressing it with your spouse is painful and humiliating. But who better to walk alongside you? Your porn usage has caused your wife pain, shame, and humiliation, and going through the PornBattle seminar could prove to be a healing tool for your marriage.

How Do I Get Access to the PornBattle Seminar?

The PornBattle seminar is $39. You can watch the videos at your leisure, save and print out the PDFs, and there’s no expiration once you have paid the fee. Purchase the PornBattle Seminar here.
